Teaching Philosophy
Working with students brings me joy. Whether I’m working with the young adult student who is right out of high school whose degree will start their career, or a more experienced student who comes back to school later in life to advance their career; whether I’m teaching synchronously face-to-face, asynchronously online, or some hybrid modality; or whether I’m coaching student workers and graduate assistants, my students bring me joy. It is this joy of helping students coupled with my core belief in the purpose of higher education that shapes my teaching philosophy of holistically supporting the development of my students by actively learning alongside them and nurturing them as they adopt a growth mindset, discover their passions, navigate college, and successfully enter the workforce.
